Flunixin Meglumine Injection USP

MEGLUVET IS A NON-STEROIDAL POTENT AND FAST ACTING ANALGESIC AGENT WITH ANTI-INFLAMMATORY & ANTIPYRETIC ACTIVITY

Composition:

  • Each ml contains
  • Flunixin meglumine - IP - 83mg
  • Equivalent to Flunixin - 50mg
  • Phenol (As preservative) - IP - 0.5%w/v
  • Water for injection - IP - q.s

Indications:

Cattle, Sheep, Goat, Camel, Pigs : To control inflammation & pyrexia associated with mastitis, metritis, pneumonia & Endotoxemia (Septicemia)

Horses : For alleviation of inflammation & pain associated with musculoskeletal disorder. Control of visceral pain associated with colic.

Dosage :

  • Cattle, Sheep, Goat: 1 to 2ml MEGLUVET per 45kg body weight.
  • (1.1 to 2.2mg Flunixin per kg body weight) given by I/M or I/V injection up to 3-5 days.
  • Horse: 1ml MEGLUVET per 45kg body weight
  • (1.1mg Flunixin per kg body weight) given by slow I/V injection up to 3-5 days.
  • Dogs: 0.5-2.2mg/kg IV once, for surgical Pain, 1ma/kg IV, SC or IM once, subsequent doses 1mg/kg
  • Cats: 1mg/kg. IV every 24h
  • Camel: 1.1-2.2 mg/kg by slow IV injection or IM every 24 h for three to five days.
  • Pig: 1-2mg/kg SC or IV daily 2.2mg/kg. IM at 12H interval (2 injections only) for the treatment of MMA Syndrome. The drug can also be used in zoo animals ie, reptiles, non-human primates.
  • Use the drug cautions in animals under six weeks of age.

Withdrawal Period :

Milk: 48hrs, Meat-14 days, for slow IV and IM use only

Presentation:

Meloxicam IP 20%w/v injection

Composition:

  • Each ml contains
  • Meloxicam - IP - 20mg
  • Benzyl alcohol (as preservative) - IP - 2%v/v
  • Lignocaine Hydrochloride - IP - 1%w/v
  • Water for injection - IP - q.s

Indications:

Cattle: As an aid in improving appetite and weight gains when administered at the onset of diarrhoea, in combination with oral rehydration therapy, in calves over one week of age. For relief of pain following de-budding of horn buds in calves less than 3 months of age. For the symptomatic treatment of inflammation and pain associated with acute clinical mastitis.

Swine: For use in non-infectious locomotor disorders to reduce the symptoms of lameness and inflammation.

Dosage:

Cattle: Single subcutaneous or intravenous injection of 0.5mg Meloxicam/kg B.wt (2.5ml/100kg)

Swine: Single intramuscular injection at a dosage of 0.4mg Meloxicam/kg B.wt (2.0ml/100kg). If required a second administration of Meloxicam can be given after 24hrs.

Contraindications:

Do not use in animals suffering from gastrointestinal disorders such as irritation and hemorrhage, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function and hemorrhagic disorders or where there is individual hypersensitivity to the product.

Do not administer concurrently with steroidal, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or with anti-coagulant agents. Concomitant use of NSAIDS with Aminoglycoside antimicrobials in very young animals may result in renal toxicity.

Cautions:

Do not use in bulls or boars intended for breeding. Avoid use in very severely dehydrated, hypovolaemic or hypotensive animals which require parenteral rehydration, as there may be a potential risk of increased renal toxicity. Use of anti-inflamatories in very young or debilitated animals may involve additional risk.

Withdrawal Period: Milk:

5 days, Meat: 15 days.

Presentation:

Composition:

  • Each 100ml contains :
  • Phenylbutazone - IP - 200mg
  • Sodium salicylate - IP - 20mg
  • Benzyl Alcohol - IP - 1.5%v/v (As Preservative)
  • Water for injections - IP - q.s

Indications:

Analgesic, Antipyretic and Anti inflamatory helps in reduction of inflamatory conditions supportive in antibacterial therapy to control pyrexia, to treat pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO)

Dosage and Administration:

Large animals: 10-20ml Small animals: 3-5ml for 3-5days by IM

Special Note:

Apart from the anti inflammatory action, salphen also helps in absorption of inflammatory exudates in pneumonia, Angioneurotic oedoma. Avoid the use in young animals below 6 months. Avoid prolonged use.

Presentation:

Nimesulide Injection 10%

Composition:

  • Each ml contains :
  • Nimesulide - BP - 100mg

Indications:

Treatment of arthritis, POU, prolapse of uterus, apart from anti inflammatory action, vetlide has also got anti histamine activity, and action on smooth muscle fibres of visceral organs. Helps in colic, and other visceral pains.

Dosage and Administration:

2-4mg/kg B.wt IM (1-2ml per 50kg B.wt) by IM route every 24 hrs.

Special Note:

Specific drug of choice in Myositis, pharyngitis, post operative surgery, prolapse of uterus, colic, Abdominal pains etc.

15ml, 50ml

Composition:

  • Each ml contains :
  • Meloxicam - IP - 5mg
  • Benzyl Alcohol - IP - 2%v/v (As Preservative)
  • Water for injections - IP - q.s

Indications:

Treatment of all inflammatory condition of muscle skeletal system, like arthritis, synovitis, Myositis, laminitis, inflammation of smooth muscle tissue Causing mastitis, prolapse of uterus, colic, post operative management to reduce pain etc, rhinitis, Otitis, pneumonitis, supportive to anti-bacterial therapy where pyrexia may be present.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Prolapse of uterus and pneumonia, 40ml per 300-400kg B.wt (divided in two doses)
  • Other conditions 15ml per 300kg B.wt
  • Dogs and small animals 0.5ml per 10kg B.wt

Special Note:

Meloxicam should not be used in combination with other NSAIDS, cortisomes, “Aminoglycoside” antibiotics advanced pregnancy and in dehydrated animals.

Presentation:

10ml, 30ml, 100ml vials.

Analgesic and Antipyretic

Composition:

  • Each ml contains :
  • Ketoprofen - IP - 100mg
  • Benzyl Alcohol - IP - 1%v/v (As Preservative)
  • Water for injections - IP - q.s

Indications:

Pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO) soft tissue injury, supportive in anti bacterial therapy, reduction of udder oedema in mastitis, management of colic, uterine prolapse, etc.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Cattle: 1ml per 33kg B.wt
  • Dog: 1ml per 20kg B.wt
  • Sheep & Goat: (By IV, IM & SC routes) every 24 hours for 3-5 days

Special Note:

Do not combine profenvet with other NSAID, avoid the use in last trimester of pregnancy and advanced pregnancy.

Dicyclomine hydrochloride Injection IP

Composition:

  • Each ml contains :
  • Dicyclomine Hydrochloride - IP - 10mg
  • Benzyl Alcohol - IP - 2%v/v (As Preservative)
  • Water for injections - IP - q.s

Action :

Dicyclomine is a powerful smooth muscle relaxant, hence very effective as anti-spasmodic agent

Indications:

Rapid relief of all types of spasmodic visceral pain, colic pain, prolapse follow up to retained placenta and dystokia (pain relief)

Dosage and Administration:

  • 1ml per 20kg B.wt by I/M route only
  • Large animals: 10-15ml
  • Small animals: 1-2ml
  • Dog: 0.5 – 2ml

Withdrawal Period:

Milk: 7 days, Meat: 28 days.

Presentation:

30ml, 50ml, 100ml.

Dicyclomine hydrochloride Injection IP

Composition:

  • Each ml contains :
  • Meloxicam - IP - 5mg
  • Paracetamol - IP - 150mg
  • Benzyl Alcohol - IP - 1%v/v (As Preservative)
  • Lignocaine Hydrochloride - IP - 1%w/v

Action :

Meloxicam is a recently developed substance from piroxicam which exhibits antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities. It has got an inhibitory action on Co-2 which is implicated in inflammatory response. Elimination half life is 12-13 hrs in cattle.

Indications:

Paracetamol has analgesic & antipyretic effects which is more significant. The combination of Meloxicam and Paracetamol offers a synergistic effect, for symptomatic relief in conditions associated with Muscle

a. Skeletal diseases like arthritis, synovitis, myositisits, laminitis. b. Mastitis, Proplapse of uterus, Wherever the action on smooth muscle fibres is desired.

Dosage and Administration: Prolapse of Herno & Pneumonia.

  • Large animals: 30-40ml. per 300kg B.wt (0.5mg per kg B.wt)
  • Other clinical conditions
  • Large animals: 15 per 300kg B.wt (0.2mg to 0.3mg per kg B.wt)
  • Dogs and other small animals: 0.5ml per 10kg B.wt

Route of Administration :

IM route & SC route

Precautions :

Do not use in animals of less than 6 weeks of age. Vetoxycam-P should not be used in combination with other NSAIDS, Amino glycocide antibiotics should not be used in advanced pregnancy & dehydrated animals.

Withdrawal Period:

Milk: 5 days, Meat: 15 days.
